A Human disaster in Abyan… Dozens Killed Due to Traffic Collision and Two Vehicles Burn

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:
The Arqoub mountain area in Abyan province witnessed a horrific traffic accident in the early hours of Wednesday, November 5, 2025, which resulted in dozens of casualties after a public transport bus belonging to “Saqr Al-Hijaz” company collided with a “Foxy” type car.
Eyewitnesses stated that fire erupted in both vehicles immediately after the collision, leading to the death of all passengers in the small car, while most of the bus passengers perished after the vehicle turned into a massive inferno.
Only five people survived, managing to break the bus windows and jump out amidst the flames, while dozens were unable to exit after the fire blocked the main door, leaving them trapped inside the burning bus.
The authorities have not yet announced the final casualty count, as sorting and investigation operations are still ongoing at the accident site.
For its part, the General Authority for Regulating Land Transport Affairs expressed its deep sadness and sorrow for the victims of the accident, confirming that the licensed bus, bearing plate number 8830 A S A, model 2023, was coming from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and had met all safety requirements and technical inspections in both countries.
The Authority issued immediate directives to form specialized teams to proceed to the accident site and follow up on the conditions of the injured in hospitals, in addition to taking urgent measures to investigate the causes of the disaster.
The Authority confirmed that it is closely following the investigations to accurately determine the circumstances of the accident, calling on all transport drivers and passengers to strictly adhere to traffic regulations and exercise maximum caution to avoid the repetition of such tragedies.
The Authority concluded its statement by praying to God to envelop the victims in His vast mercy, grant their families patience and solace, and grant the injured a speedy recovery.
