Al-Arada Affirms that a Just and Sustainable Peace is Based on the Three References

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

Member of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), Major General Sultan Al-Arada, stated that a just and sustainable peace must be based on the Three References: The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Initiative and its Executive Mechanism, the outcomes of the Comprehensive National Dialogue Conference, and the relevant UN Security Council resolutions, foremost among them Resolution 2216.

During his meeting today, Thursday, with the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Yemen, Dr. Amirullah İşler, he affirmed the Presidential Leadership Council’s keenness to deal positively and responsibly with UN efforts and regional and international initiatives aimed at achieving peace.

Al-Arada and the Turkish Ambassador discussed the latest developments on the national stage, aspects of bilateral cooperation between the two friendly countries, and prospects for developing it in various fields.

He explained that the intransigence of the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist militia, their continuous military escalation on several fronts, and their targeting of international waterways constitute the main obstacle to ending the suffering of the Yemeni people and undermines opportunities for stability in Yemen and the region.

The PLC member stressed the importance of doubling humanitarian and development support in these exceptional circumstances, as humanitarian programs and sustainable development projects represent a top priority for assisting the people and achieving economic recovery.

Al-Arada pointed to the difficult economic situation his country is enduring due to the continued wars waged by the Houthi militias and the devastating effects they have had on the national economy, infrastructure, basic services, and public state resources.

For his part, the Turkish Ambassador affirmed his country’s firm position in supporting the Presidential Leadership Council and the government, and contributing to enhancing humanitarian and development efforts in Yemen, noting the importance of expanding the fields of cooperation and joint coordination to serve the common interests of the two countries.
