Yemeni Islah Party Reaffirms Presidential Council Unity and State Restoration in Meeting with U.S. Ambassador

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
During a meeting held on Monday, Abdulrazzaq Al-Hajri, member of the Higher Authority of the Yemeni Islah Party, emphasized the importance of maintaining the unity of the Presidential Leadership Council and strengthening national cohesion to restore the state, enhance security and stability, and contribute to regional and international peace.
The remarks came during Al-Hajri’s meeting with U.S. Ambassador to Yemen Steven Fagin, where he expressed the Islah Party’s appreciation for the U.S. position supporting the restoration of political life in Yemen and the vital role of political parties as legitimate representatives confronting the Houthi militia’s efforts to dismantle political pluralism in the country.
Al-Hajri also conveyed the party’s gratitude for the U.S. Embassy’s stance condemning the armed raid by Southern Transitional Council elements on a women’s event organized by Islah’s Women’s Department in Hadramout’s city of Mukalla on September 27. The embassy had described the incident as an undermining of core values of freedom of expression and assembly.
He further praised the US for its support of Yemen and its legitimate leadership, represented by the Presidential Leadership Council, stressing the importance of empowering the government to fulfill its economic and developmental responsibilities, address living conditions, and restore the value of the national currency.
For his part, Ambassador Fagin reaffirmed his country’s commitment to supporting Yemen’s unity and stability, as well as the unity of the Presidential Leadership Council. He also emphasized the importance of continuing economic reforms that serve the interests of the Yemeni people.
The meeting was attended by Insaf Mayo, Deputy Head of the Parliamentary Bloc and Head of Islah’s Executive Office in the interim capital, Aden, and Salah Batis, member of the Shura Council.
