Saudi Arabia and the UK Lead International Coalition to Support Yemeni Coast Guard with Participation of Over 35 Countries

Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom today launched in Riyadh an unprecedented international initiative to support the Yemeni Coast Guard, with the participation of more than 35 partner countries.

The initiative aims to strengthen the Yemeni Coast Guard’s capacity in maritime border surveillance and law enforcement, which will contribute to improving the security of Yemen’s coasts and protecting vital maritime routes in the region.

The new capabilities provided to the Coast Guard will also help enhance the economic stability of Yemeni coastal communities, in addition to safeguarding one of the world’s most important maritime corridors that passes through Yemen’s territorial waters.

This step comes as part of joint efforts to support regional maritime security and enhance international cooperation in addressing challenges facing Yemen’s coasts.
