Yemeni Prime Minister Salem Saleh Bin Buraik held a virtual meeting on Monday with several diplomatic missions and the World Bank to discuss potential mechanisms and channels of support for the government. The goal of the meeting was to help strengthen economic stability and ease the humanitarian burden.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to coordinating efforts with its international partners. This coordination, he said, is crucial for ensuring that funding is effective and directed toward development projects that have a tangible impact on citizens’ lives.
The participants discussed the importance of continued cooperation through clear and organized channels to ensure the sustainability of humanitarian and development assistance. This, in turn, would help create an environment conducive to economic recovery.
The meeting included the UK Ambassador Abda Sharif, the Netherlands Ambassador Jeanette Seppen, the World Bank Regional Director for Egypt, Yemen, and and Djibouti Stephan Guimbert, the World Bank Group Country Manager for Yemen Dina Abu-Ghaida, along with the Director of Economic Cooperation at the EU and the Head of International Cooperation at the German Embassy Sophia Bunger.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to continue coordination between the government and its international partners. The two sides will work to develop and expand support mechanisms, which will strengthen their international partnership and back the government’s efforts to achieve economic stability.
