Hudaidah: Urgent Appeal for Aid After Deadly Floods Hit Hays City

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

The local authorities in Yemen’s Hudaidah governorate have issued an urgent appeal for help after devastating flash floods struck Hays city on Tuesday night, killing four people, including a nine-year-old child. The floods also caused significant material damage.

Authorities are calling on the government and humanitarian organizations for immediate intervention to provide food, medical aid, and shelter to the affected residents. They warn that the humanitarian crisis will worsen without a rapid response.

Residents of Hays are facing dire conditions, with homes and property swept away and a near-total absence of rescue and relief efforts. In response, Tareq Saleh, Vice President of the Presidential Leadership Council, has directed the UAE-backed Humanitarian Operations Cell to provide emergency assistance to those affected by the heavy rains and strong winds.
