Rockslide Claims Lives of Bus Passengers Between Hajjah and Amran
Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
A tragic accident occurred on Wednesday at Naqil Al-Khudhali, the mountain pass linking Hajjah and Amran governorates, when a sudden rockslide caused casualties among the passengers of a minibus carrying about 19 people.
Local sources reported that the bus was struck by falling rocks triggered by heavy rains that have battered the area for days. Several passengers sustained severe injuries and were transported to the Saudi Hospital in Hajjah city for treatment, while others died from their wounds.
Residents describe Naqil Al-Khadhali as the “road of death” due to the frequent rockslides and traffic accidents there. Heavy rains turn it into a deadly threat for travelers almost every year.
