Yemen Calls for Immediate Ceasefire in Gaza, Reaffirms Support for Two-State Solution

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

Yemen has called for an “immediate and permanent” ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the lifting of the blockade, unhindered humanitarian aid access, the protection of the Palestinian people, and an end to Israeli violations in the West Bank.

The call came in a statement delivered by Yemeni Foreign Minister Shaea Al-Zandani during the high-level international conference on the peaceful resolution of the Palestinian issue held today. The statement praised the efforts of Saudi Arabia and France in organizing the conference.

Minister Al-Zandani described the conference as a historic step toward reviving the political process and implementing the two-state solution to end the occupation, ensuring the Palestinian people’s right to establish an independent state along the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The statement called for launching a serious political process with a clear and defined timeline to achieve that goal.

It welcomed France’s announcement of its intention to recognize the State of Palestine and urged other countries to take similar steps and support Palestine’s full membership in the United Nations.

The statement also stressed the need to halt unilateral Israeli actions such as settlement expansion, annexation, and home demolitions. It called for support for the Palestinian government, the Arab-Islamic recovery plan for Gaza, and adequate funding for UNRWA.

It warned of an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza due to the collapse of infrastructure and the healthcare system, along with severe shortages of water and electricity, and the use of starvation as a weapon. The statement emphasized that the blockade constitutes collective punishment and a blatant violation of international law.
