Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

The National Committee for Investigating Alleged Human Rights Violations held a meeting today, Tuesday, with the Chairman of the Board of Yemen Airways, Captain Nasser Mahmoud Mohammed, as part of its ongoing investigation into the Israeli occupation’s targeting of Sanaa International Airport.

During the meeting, which took place in the interim capital Aden, Captain Nasser provided a detailed account of the damage sustained by Sanaa Airport due to Israeli airstrikes.

He confirmed that the bombing resulted in the destruction of large portions of the airport’s facilities, including four civilian aircraft belonging to Yemen Airways that were parked on the airport at the time of the attack.

He also highlighted the significant impact of the strikes on the airport’s infrastructure, aviation services, and state property.

This meeting is part of a series of sessions held by the committee to collect testimonies and document violations of a humanitarian nature.

Previously, the committee met with Captain Saleh bin Nahid, head of the Civil Aviation and Meteorology Authority, who confirmed that the attacks struck vital civilian facilities and caused the complete shutdown of the airport. He emphasized the severe humanitarian consequences, most notably the disruption of travel for hundreds of civilians, including patients, stranded individuals, and pilgrims, amid the lack of safe aviation alternatives for Yemen’s northern and central regions.

Committee members Mohammed Talyan and Dhiya Muhayriz stressed that the targeting of the airport constitutes a serious violation of international humanitarian law. They affirmed the committee’s ongoing work in collecting evidence and testimonies to document both the material and humanitarian impact in preparation for inclusion in the official investigation file.
