Rights Statement Condemns Arbitrary Arrest Warrants Against Journalists in Hadramout

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
The National Organization of Yemeni Media Professionals “SADA” issued a statement strongly condemning the arbitrary arrest procedures targeting several journalists and media activists in Hadramout Governorate.
These actions were reportedly taken in response to the individuals’ media opinions and their coverage of local affairs.
The statement emphasized that such practices represent a blatant violation of constitutional and international charters that guarantee freedom of expression and journalists’ rights—especially as their cases have been referred to the Specialized Criminal Prosecution on charges related to state security.
The targeted journalists include:
- Sabri Salmeen bin Mukhshen
- Abduljabar Omar Bajabeer
- Muzahim Abubakr Bajaber
- Badr Nasser Al-Mashjari
- Rami Abdullah Al-Jaberi
The organization warned that these actions represent a dangerous escalation threatening the media environment in the governorate.
“SADA” called on the security and judicial authorities in Hadramout to respect journalists’ rights and ensure a safe working environment. The organization also urged local and international press freedom groups to intervene urgently to halt these violations.
