With Kuwaiti Support, Taiz Launches a Specialized Center for Prosthetics and Physical Therapy

Today, the Governor of Taiz, Nabil Shamsan, inaugurated the first phase of the Prosthetics and Physical Therapy Center project, with a total cost of 416,000 Kuwaiti dinars (approximately $1,300,000), supported and funded by the sisterly State of Kuwait as part of its ongoing backing for the health and humanitarian sectors.

During the inauguration, Governor Shamsan praised Kuwait’s generous support to Yemen in general and to Taiz in particular, affirming that this project represents a qualitative addition to the health sector and will significantly contribute to alleviating the suffering of those in need of rehabilitation services, enabling them to access specialized medical care within the governorate without the hardship of traveling.

As part of the implementation steps, the Governor of Taiz directed the rapid completion of furnishing works, as well as the transfer and installation of equipment for the prosthetics and physical therapy center, along with accelerating the qualification of technical staff, to ensure that medical and rehabilitation services begin being provided to beneficiaries as soon as possible.

The governor received a detailed briefing from the Director General of the Public Health and Population Office, Dr. Fahd al-Nadhari, and the project supervisor, Dr. Mohammed Fouad, on the components of the first phase, which include the construction, equipping, and furnishing of the main building for the physical therapy unit and the building for the prosthetics and orthotics unit, in accordance with the highest approved technical specifications.
