Yemeni President to political parties: Houthis are not a partner for peace

Yemen Monitor/ Newsroom:
The Head of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, emphasized today, Thursday, that the current phase demands the highest levels of national cohesion in confronting the Iranian project and its disruptive tools in Yemen and the region, warning that leniency with this project will not lead to containing the threat.
During his meeting in Riyadh with the leadership of the “National Bloc of Political Parties and Components” headed by Ahmed Obeid bin Dagher, Al-Alimi called on political forces to transcend traditional methods, lead national awareness, strengthen the internal front, and mobilize popular support around the state project and back the army.
The Head of the Leadership Council briefed the political forces on the latest developments regarding Houthi escalation, foremost among which was what he described as a “blatant Iranian violation of Yemeni sovereignty” by sending an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) aircraft to Sana’a airport carrying military experts and technologies, in clear violation of Security Council resolutions.
Al-Alimi explained that this development, along with the military escalation, targeting of shipping, and assassinations, proves once again that the Houthi group has never been a real partner for peace, but rather poses an “existential threat.”
The meeting touched upon comprehensive financial and administrative reform efforts, where Al-Alimi noted that significant progress has been made in developing domestic resources and turning the crisis of halted oil exports—caused by the Houthis—into an opportunity for self-reliance. He praised the generous economic and financial support from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which foiled the plot to economically paralyze the state.
Al-Alimi briefed the parties on the results of recent diplomatic efforts, affirming their success in conveying a unified national narrative to the international community, proving that the Yemeni situation is not an internal conflict, but rather a direct extension of blatant Iranian interventions.
In concluding his speech, he reaffirmed the state’s commitment to the option of peace that is unconditional on compromising sovereignty and dignity, emphasizing that should the Houthi escalation continue, the state will take all necessary measures to protect the interests of the people and restore its institutions.
For their part, the heads of the political parties and components affirmed their full support for the Leadership Council and the government, stressing that the unity of the national ranks and backing the armed forces represent the first line of defense in confronting the Houthi-Iranian project and protecting the republican system.
