“Mothers of Abductees” Documents More Than 1,300 Cases of Torture and Hears Testimonies from Survivors

The Association of Mothers of Abductees held a hearing session in the city of Taiz for a number of survivors of detention facilities as part of its humanitarian and justice campaign titled “No to Torture… Justice is a Right for Victims.”
The session highlighted harrowing testimonies from survivors, who described the torture, enforced disappearance, and cruel mistreatment they endured while in detention. They also spoke about the profound psychological and humanitarian impact these violations have had on them and their families.
During the event, the association released alarming statistics compiled through its human rights documentation efforts. It reported that 1,332 abductees had been subjected to torture in detention centers and documented 88 deaths resulting from torture and other forms of cruel treatment inside detention facilities.
The Association of Mothers of Abductees reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for victims and amplifying their voices at both the national and international levels. It renewed its call for justice, legal accountability for those responsible for these crimes, and an end to impunity.
