US Military Announces Destruction of Ras Issa Fuel Port in Western Yemen

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:

The US military announced on Thursday the destruction of the Ras Issa fuel export port, located under the control of the Houthis, in western Yemen.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement that “the Houthis have continued to exploit fuel to support their military operations and finance their terrorism through the port of Ras Issa, despite their designation as a terrorist organization.”

It added, “Today, US forces destroyed the platform to cut off this illicit funding source, which has been used for years to finance terrorism and exploit the Yemeni people.”

CENTCOM indicated that “the strike aimed to dry up the Houthis’ economic resources without harming the Yemeni people, who are suffering from the group’s control.”

The operation delivered a clear warning to Iran and the Houthis’ supporters that the world will not tolerate fuel smuggling to support terrorism.

Meanwhile, media outlets affiliated with the Houthi group reported that the US military launched a series of separate airstrikes on Sana’a, Hodeidah, and Al-Bayda.
