Houthis Claim to Target US Aircraft Carrier “Truman” Again

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:

The armed Houthi group claimed on Friday to have carried out a joint military operation targeting the US aircraft carrier “Truman” in the northern Red Sea.

The statement indicated that the operation was carried out with the participation of the group’s missile force, drone air force, and naval forces.

The group clarified that the operation was carried out using cruise missiles and drones against the aforementioned targets.

Earlier on Thursday, the US military announced that a second aircraft carrier, sent by the US to the Middle East to protect what it called commercial flows, had arrived in the region, amid the intensified US campaign of airstrikes against the Houthis.

The US Central Command said in a statement yesterday, Thursday, on the X platform, that “the USS Carl Vinson aircraft carrier and its air wing, which includes F-35C Lightning II fighters, are operating alongside the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier in the Central Command’s area of responsibility.”

In contrast, a US Department of Defense official said that his country has bombed more than 100 targets in Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen since the start of its recent air campaign against the group, which he described as Iranian-backed.

These US airstrikes come after orders issued by US President Donald Trump to his country’s army to launch a “major offensive” against the Houthi group, before threatening to “eliminate them completely.”
