“Yemeni Meteorological center: “Heavy rainfall continues in several areas

The National Meteorological Center in Yemen reported today, Friday, that moderate to heavy thunderstorms continue to fall in several areas.

The center highlighted heavy to moderate rainfall in different areas of Saada, Hajjah, AlMahwit, Amran, Sana’a, Dhamar, Ibb, Taiz, Shabwah, AlBayda, AlDhalea, and different areas of Hadramout and Al-Mahra governorates, with moderate to heavy rainfall in most areas.

Earlier, the center had reported “moderate to heavy thunderstorms leading to flash floods on plateaus and deserts in the governorates of “Al-Mahra, Hadramout, Shabwah, Marib, AlJawf, AlBayda, Abyan, Lahj, AlDhalea, and Taiz.”

They also mentioned varying intensity rains accompanied by thunder in the governorates of Saada, Amran, Sana’a, Hajjah, AlMahwit, Dhamar, Raymah, Ibb, and Taiz, including the western and southern coasts, parts of the eastern coast, and Socotra Archipelago.

The meteorological department warned of sea disturbances in the Gulf of Aden, Bab El Mandeb, and the southern Red Sea.

They advised citizens in areas expected to receive rainfall to take precaution and avoid being in valleys and riverbeds during and after rainfall, as well as strong descending winds and hailstorms.

The Meteorological center also urged citizens to stay indoors during thunderstorms and avoid being under high towers, trees, and using electronic devices and mobile phones of all kinds.

Drivers were also warned of reduced visibility due to rain, fog formation, rockslides, and crossing bridges during flash floods. Sea-goers and fishermen were cautioned about sea disturbances and high waves.

The Meteorological center also called on relevant authorities to take necessary measures to protect lives and properties according to their location and specialization.
