The police of Marib Governorate destroyed, today, approximately one million capsules of the narcotic drug “Pregabalin” at a concentration of 300 mg, after completing the legal and judicial procedures related to the seized items.
The police stated that the destroyed quantity amounted to 6,200 packs of the drug, and the destruction process was carried out in the presence of representatives from the Public Prosecution and the military committee specialized in examining seized items.
The Director General of Marib Governorate Police, Brigadier General Yahya Humaid, affirmed that the security agencies continue their efforts to combat the smuggling and promotion of narcotic substances and to apprehend those involved, pointing out that these substances pose a threat to community security and stability.
He added that the security and military agencies in the governorate are working in continuous coordination to confront drug smuggling operations and limit their spread, emphasizing the continuation of implementing necessary measures to protect society and enhance security and stability.
Brigadier General Humaid commended the efforts made by security and military units in the field of drug control, and the seizures and achievements they have made in pursuing smugglers and promoters.
For his part, the Director of the Anti-Narcotics Department of Marib Police, Colonel Abdulrazzaq Al-Rawafi, explained that the materials destroyed are listed among the prohibited narcotic substances and psychotropic substances, confirming that the destruction process was carried out in accordance with approved legal and judicial procedures.
Al-Rawafi called on citizens to cooperate with the relevant authorities and report any suspicious activities related to drug smuggling or promotion, pointing out that raising community awareness represents one of the most important elements in confronting this phenomenon and mitigating its effects.
