Amid the Fuel Crisis… Yemenia Operates 11 Flights and Resumes the Return of Pilgrims

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
Yemen Airways (Yemenia) announced the execution of 11 flights on Wednesday, according to its approved operational schedule, confirming the continuation of its air operations despite challenges resulting from a shortage of aviation fuel at several Yemeni airports.
The company stated that exceptional operational measures enabled it to maintain the regularity of flights and ensure the return of Yemeni pilgrims to the country, alongside continuing to serve passengers on various destinations included in its daily schedule.
It explained that securing its fleet’s fuel needs through King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah contributed to the ongoing operation of scheduled flights and limited any potential disruptions in air transport movement.
The company emphasized that domestic flights linked to the international network will resume fully as soon as fuel becomes available at local airports, foremost among them Aden International Airport, thereby enhancing the flow of passenger movement between governorates and international destinations.
Yemenia praised the support and facilities provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, considering that this cooperation helped overcome the repercussions of the fuel crisis and maintain the continuity of the national carrier’s services during the current period.
Over the past few days, the company had taken alternative arrangements to ensure the return of pilgrims from several governorates, at a time when it continues to deal with the repercussions of the fuel shortage that affected some flights and forced a number of aircraft to refuel at external airports to ensure the continuity of operations.
In a related context, Minister of Transport Mohsen Al-Amri stated that Yemen Airways faces exceptional challenges, similar to many regional and international airlines affected by the current situation in the region and air and sea navigation routes, in reference to the fuel depletion problem at airports that affected the company’s flights.
During his visit to the company’s headquarters, Al-Maamari pointed to the efforts made by the leadership and employees of Yemen Airways to maintain the continuity of air transport services for citizens under various circumstances.
