The Security Committee of Yemen’s temporary capital, Aden, convened today to discuss the latest security developments. The meeting was chaired by Governor Abdulrahman Sheikh and attended by the Commander of the Fourth Military Region, Major General Hamdi Shukri, along with several high-ranking military and security officials.
The committee meeting comes amid a concerning rise in assassinations within Aden. Recently, the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council issued statements accusing unnamed parties of attempting to undermine trust between the government and its international partners by orchestrating these targeted killings.
According to the state-run Saba News Agency, the meeting reviewed progress reports on current security plans and evaluated the level of coordination between various specialized units tasked with addressing security challenges and maintaining public order.
Governor Sheikh emphasized the critical need for unified efforts and enhanced cooperation across all security branches. He called for “maximum vigilance” and a firm response to any attempts to destabilize the city or disrupt public peace. The Governor also commended the sacrifices made by personnel to protect public property and ensure the safety of Aden’s residents.
The meeting concluded with several key recommendations aimed at:
- Strengthening Military-Security Integration: Improving the seamless flow of operations between different branches.
- Increasing Combat Readiness: Elevating the preparedness of units to respond to immediate threats.
- Field Plan Continuity: Pursuing the implementation of ongoing strategic security operations to reinforce stability in the temporary capital.
