Presidential Meeting Directs Closure of Financial Accounts Outside Central Bank and Enhancement of Revenue Control

The Head of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Muhammad al-Alimi, held a small-scale meeting on Tuesday with the government and governors of the liberated governorates, attended by Council members Sultan al-Arada and Salem al-Khonbashi, along with Prime Minister Shayea al-Zandani.

The meeting was dedicated to discussing national developments and strengthening coordination between the government and local authorities to improve living conditions and basic services, alongside supporting the presence of state institutions in the governorates.

The meeting heard briefings on government performance and economic and financial reforms, as well as plans for managing public revenues and increasing spending efficiency, with a focus on improving services in the electricity, water, health, and education sectors.

The meeting emphasized the necessity of unifying efforts to combat corruption, strengthening principles of governance and transparency, controlling public resources, and closing all financial accounts held outside the framework of the Central Bank. It also stressed the implementation of Presidential Leadership Council decisions, foremost among them Decision No. (11) of 2025.

Additionally, the meeting approved the continued closure of unlicensed ports and outlets, the strengthening of measures to combat smuggling and the financing of illegal activities, the prevention of encroachments on state lands, and the improvement of the efficiency of revenue and oversight institutions.

The President directed relevant authorities to prepare a plan to secure fuel requirements for power plants in preparation for the summer season. He praised the progress made in the economic reform program and emphasized the importance of activating oversight and accountability tools.

Al-Alimi commended the support provided by Saudi Arabia, emphasizing that the strategic partnership with the Kingdom represents a fundamental pillar for supporting stability and enhancing the resilience of state institutions in Yemen.
