Yemen Monitor / Mukalla / Special:

The city of Mukalla, eastern Yemen, witnessed notable tension after elements affiliated with the dissolved Southern Transitional Council (STC) attacked a popular gathering supporting Saudi Arabia, leading to unrest around the event and the dispersal of participants.

According to local sources, the assailants threw stones at protesters during the gathering in an attempt to obstruct the event, which was organized to express support for Saudi positions.

As the situation deteriorated, security forces intervened, firing into the air in an effort to contain the situation and prevent the clashes from spreading.

Participants had gathered carrying Yemeni flags and chanting slogans affirming their commitment to the country’s unity and pride in their national identity, alongside their support for the Saudi role in Yemen.

Organizers of the event stated that the gathering came in the context of expressing gratitude for Saudi positions, noting that such actions reflect public awareness of the importance of solidarity in facing challenges.

Participants also called for strengthening efforts aimed at achieving stability and peace, expressing hope that these stances would contribute to improving humanitarian conditions and advancing development.

Several Yemeni provinces have witnessed, in recent days, solidarity gatherings supporting Saudi Arabia, with chants denouncing Iranian attacks on the Kingdom, Gulf countries, and Jordan.
