Seizure of Smuggled Weapons in Hadramawt, Yemen

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
Security forces in the city of Mukalla, Hadramawt Governorate (eastern Yemen), successfully seized a quantity of medium and light weapons transported aboard a medium-duty truck (Dyna).
Hadramawt Coast Security stated that a security operation was carried out in the early hours of yesterday morning, Tuesday, in the Al-Insha’at area behind the University Presidency, resulting in the recovery of a cache of medium and light weaponry.
Authorities explained that the operation followed the profiling of a suspicious vehicle. Upon stopping and inspecting the truck, hidden weapons were discovered inside. Both the vehicle and its contents have been impounded, and the necessary legal procedures have been initiated.
Security agencies reaffirmed their ongoing commitment to combating the smuggling and illegal possession of weapons to enhance security and stability within the governorate.
Hadramawt witnessed clashes during last January, which resulted in the withdrawal of the UAE-backed Transitional Council forces, with the “Nation’s Shield” (Dir’ al-Watan) forces subsequently taking over the security of the oil-rich province.
