Yemen Petroleum Company Fuel Pumps Arrive in Socotra

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

Local sources reported Saturday evening that ready-to-use fuel pumps belonging to the Yemen Petroleum Company (YPC) have arrived in the Socotra Archipelago. This move is expected to help alleviate the severe fuel derivative crisis currently gripping the governorate.

For several days, Socotra has faced an acute shortage of fuel and domestic gas, which has directly impacted transportation and daily life, leading to a state of near-total paralysis on the streets.

The crisis emerged following the sudden operational halt of the Emirati “ADNOC” station, which had held a monopoly over the sale of petroleum derivatives in the archipelago. This stoppage follows a recent decision to exclude the company from the Coalition and the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council.
