STC Militias Protest Outside Hadramowt Governor’s Home, Demand His Removal

Yemen Monitor – Newsroom:
Political tensions have escalated in Hadramowt as the Southern Transitional Council (STC) organized a protest outside the home of Governor Salem Al-Khanbashi in the city of Mukalla, demanding his dismissal over his opposition to the presence of non-local forces in the governorate.
Observers said the demonstration is part of an ongoing escalation by the STC to pressure local authorities. Protesters voiced their rejection of the Hadramowt governor through chants including: “Changing the governor is a duty.”
The governorate has been distinguished by Al-Khanbashi’s firm national stance, insisting on the return and stabilization of local security forces—an approach that has drawn opposition from the STC, which has sought to deploy its own forces and supporters to bring about a complete change in local administration.
The protest sparked widespread debate after demonstrators raised the flag of secession, a move rejected by many residents of Hadramowt who support national unity and the stabilization of the situation in the governorate.
According to local sources, the events reflect an increasing escalation by the STC against the internationally recognized government and its governors in Shabwa and Hadramowt, at a time when official authorities are working to maintain security and stability in the region.
