The Minister of Public Health and Population, Qasem Buhaibeh, held a meeting in Aden with the supervisory committee responsible for preparing the National Health Strategy for the period 2026–2030. This meeting is part of the preparation for a new document expected to guide the work of the health sector in the coming years.
During the meeting, the technical team from the University of Geneva, along with several supporting international organizations, presented a preliminary report. The report included a general vision for the roadmap, required tasks, and a timeline extending from October 2025 to March 2026.
The presentation also covered mechanisms for engaging various stakeholders through interviews and workshops, in addition to detailing the type of data that will be relied upon during the preparation phases.
The team indicated that the strategy-building process will adhere to World Health Organization (WHO) methodologies and modern planning standards, ensuring the production of a document capable of meeting the increasing needs of the health system.
Minister Buhaibeh stressed that the new strategy must serve as a national reference defining the health sector’s directions. He emphasized the importance of adhering to scientific work steps, starting with an analysis of the current situation, moving through the identification of priorities and drafting the first version, and finally reaching its adoption and the development of a clear, funded implementation plan.
The Minister also praised the technical role of the University of Geneva team and the efforts of international partners in providing data and facilitating fieldwork. He pointed out that the success of the preparation process requires effective coordination between the various departments of the Ministry.
The meeting concluded by stressing the need to facilitate the work of the technical and field teams to ensure the strategy is completed within the specified timeframe and achieves its desired objectives.
