Three Drug Gangs Dismantled in Hadramout Within 12 Hours

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
Security forces in Hadramout coast region (eastern Yemen) managed to arrest three drug-dealing gangs in the city of Mukalla—dealing in methamphetamine (shabu), hashish, and narcotic pills—within just 12 hours.
Hadramout Coast Police said in a post on its official Facebook page that the Anti-Narcotics Department in the governorate succeeded in taking down the three drug-dealing groups in Mukalla within 12 hours, in what it described as “high-quality operations” carried out as part of a campaign to track drug dealers and dry up their sources.
According to the Police, citing Major Waddah Omar Bazumah, Deputy Director of the Anti-Narcotics Department in the Hadramout coast region, the first operation led to the arrest of three hashish dealers in the “Fuwa” area after about one kilogram was found hidden inside a sack of oranges.
He added that the second operation was carried out in the “Al-Dis” area, where one of the most dangerous shabu dealers was arrested. Additional quantities of the narcotic substance were found in his home, along with six electronic scales and heat-sealed bags used for preparing and distributing the drugs, with a female officer participating in the raid.
Bazumah revealed that the third operation resulted in the arrest of a four-member gang in the Joule Al-Shifa area. They were found in possession of 270 narcotic and sedative pills, a quantity of hashish, and tools used for consuming shabu, confirming their involvement in organized drug dealing and usage.
He stressed that all suspects and confiscated items have been referred to the relevant legal authorities, pointing to the department’s continued pre-emptive campaigns to pursue drug dealers and protect society from the harmful effects of drugs.
