Yemeni Interior Ministry Announces Arrest of Key Suspect in Killing of UN Employee in Taiz

The Yemeni Interior Ministry announced on Thursday that Taiz police have taken custody of one of the key suspects in the assassination of the UN office director in the governorate, a crime that occurred in Al-Turba city in mid-2023.
The Security Media Center of the Interior Ministry explained that the suspect, Muayed Obaido Nasser (37 years old), was apprehended in Al-Dhale governorate following security coordination between police agencies in Taiz and Al-Dhale, as part of efforts to pursue those involved and complete the case file.
The Security Media Center stated that Taiz police have referred the suspect to the relevant authorities to complete investigation procedures, paving the way for legal actions and uncovering the circumstances of the crime. It emphasized the continued efforts of security agencies to track down the remaining suspects and ensure they are brought to justice.
It is worth noting that Muayad Humaidi, the director of the World Food Programme office in Al-Turba, was killed by gunfire targeting him in front of a restaurant in Al-Turba city in July 2023.
