Governor of Al-Mahrah Stresses Importance of Keeping Nishtun Port Open and Supporting Commercial Movement

The Governor of Al-Mahrah Governorate, Muhammad Ali Yasser, emphasized the importance of continuing the operation of Nishtun Port as a vital commercial and economic outlet serving the governorate and Yemen as a whole. He stressed the necessity of maintaining its role in supporting commercial movement and providing local resources.

This came during the joint extraordinary meeting of the Local Council and the Executive Office held today, chaired by the Governor, and attended by the Secretary-General of the Local Council, Salem Abdullah Nimer, the First Deputy General, Brigadier Mukhtar Bin Awad Al-Jaafari, and a number of governorate deputies and executive office directors.

The meeting extensively discussed the situation of Nishtun Port and the importance of its continued performance of its official duties as a legal outlet subject to approved regulations and procedures, given its pivotal role in revitalizing economic activity and supporting financial stability in the governorate.

The Governor also stressed the necessity of coordinating efforts between the relevant authorities to ensure regular work at the port and to develop its services in line with the requirements of the current stage.

In addition, the meeting touched upon the economic and financial reforms adopted by the government, affirming the local authority’s support for these efforts, while emphasizing that these reforms must consider the specificity of Al-Mahrah Governorate and achieve a balance in the distribution of resources.

The attendees affirmed their full support for the Governor and his efforts in managing the affairs of the governorate and maintaining public stability, calling for the activation of local resources and the encouragement of investment to contribute to enhancing sustainable development.

The meeting concluded with an emphasis on submitting its outcomes to the central government and the Ministries of Finance and Local Administration, including recommendations related to Nishtun Port and resource management mechanisms, to ensure the achievement of fair and stable economic reforms that serve the interests of both the state and Al-Mahrah Governorate.
