Houthis Storm Offices of Three International Organizations in Hajjah

Yemen Monitor / Exclusive:

Houthi elements stormed the offices of Oxfam, the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), and the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) in Hajjah Governorate, northwest Yemen.

This comes one day after a successful Omani mediation secured the release of 15 UN staff members of foreign nationalities and 5 of Yemeni nationality. They had been detained for two days in a UN-affiliated accommodation in Sana’a, where their phones and personal computers were confiscated, and a thorough search and investigations were conducted inside the UN staff residence.

Last August, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) confirmed that more than 41,000 people are facing the specter of famine in the Abs district. This is due to intersecting crises in the district, which has seen tens of thousands of people displaced by conflict in Haradh and northern Hajjah.
