The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, praised the efforts of the legal team supporting the Council and its role in bolstering the Leadership’s work and reinforcing the institutional approach and national partnership during the transitional phase.
This came during his meeting today, Saturday, in Riyadh, with the head of the team, Judge Hamoud Al-Hitar, and the team members. He listened to a presentation on the team’s most prominent activities over the past period, the legal tasks and consultations it has accomplished, in addition to its future vision for developing legal performance and unifying institutional work among state agencies.
Al-Alimi emphasized that the work of the legal team represents a fundamental pillar in supporting the Leadership Council and embodying the state’s commitment to institutional work and the frameworks of the transitional phase. He pointed out that the Council is now working with a spirit of understanding and integration towards its common goal of restoring state institutions and ending the Iran-backed Houthi coup.
The Chairman of the Leadership Council stressed the importance of the legal role in confronting the violations of the Houthis and documenting their crimes against human rights, which strengthens the national position and contributes to expanding international efforts to designate them as a cross-border terrorist organization.
This meeting with the legal team comes in the wake of the crisis sparked by the decisions issued last month by Council member Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, which were considered an overstep of the powers of the Council’s chairman without consultation with other members.
In this context, at the conclusion of its recent meeting, the Leadership Council had decided to task the legal team with reviewing the decisions issued by the Council since 2022, a mission spanning 90 days. The team is to submit the results of its study and recommendations to the Council for urgent consideration and appropriate action.
The Council also tasked the legal team with immediately beginning a review of the appointments and decisions issued by Council member Aidarous Al-Zubaidi in September 2025 and submitting the review results and recommendations regarding them to the Council for necessary measures.
