The Hajj and Umrah Sector of the Ministry of Endowments and Guidance announced the start of implementing the health instructions issued by the relevant authorities in Saudi Arabia regarding the medical fitness requirements (medically fit) for those wishing to register for the Hajj pilgrimage for the 1447 AH season. This is part of the mutual commitment to the safety of pilgrims and ensuring they perform the rituals under safe and stable health conditions.
The Sector clarified that the application of these requirements is intended to enhance preventive measures and protect pilgrims from potential health risks during the rituals. It noted that the acceptance of registration applications will be limited to those who prove their medical fitness through a certificate issued by an approved health authority, confirming the applicant is free of diseases or conditions that might impede their performance of the Hajj rites.
The statement explained that the diseases and conditions that prevent the issuance of the medical certificate include:
- Failure of vital organs such as the heart, lungs, liver, or kidneys.
- Neurological or mental illnesses affecting cognition or movement.
- Pregnancy in the last two months or high-risk pregnancy.
- Active cancerous tumors while undergoing chemotherapy or radiation therapy.
- Serious infectious diseases that threaten public health, such as open pulmonary tuberculosis.
The Sector called on all those wishing to perform the Hajj pilgrimage to visit the medical centers accredited by the Ministry of Public Health and Population in their governorates to complete the medical examinations and obtain the required certificate as soon as possible. It affirmed that the Ministry gives the health aspect utmost importance within its comprehensive plan to serve the Guests of the Most Gracious and facilitate their performance of the rituals in a safe and healthy environment.
