Houthis Announce Detention of 10 Crew Members from a Sunk Ship

Yemen Monitor – Sana’a – Exclusive:

The armed Houthi group announced on Monday that it is holding 10 crew members from a cargo ship it sank earlier this month.

Houthi media outlets quoted a military official stating that the number of detainees from the vessel, the “Eternity C,” is 11 individuals, including two injured persons and a body left on board the ship before it was sunk by the armed group on July 7.

The Eternity C, a Liberian-flagged cargo ship, was the second vessel to be sunk off Yemen’s coast this month following repeated attacks by Houthi militants using naval drones and rocket-propelled explosives. A few days earlier, another ship operated by a Greek company—the Magic Seas—was also sunk.

The crew of the Eternity C, along with three armed guards, was forced to abandon the ship after the assaults. Ten individuals were rescued during a special mission, while five others are feared dead as a result of the Houthi attack.
