Gunmen Torch Cement Company Bus in Abyan, Undermining Investment Climate

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
The Al-Wahda Cement Company in Abyan province was subjected to a new attack early Tuesday, July 8, 2025, when masked gunmen set fire to a bus transporting factory employees in the Batis area.
Local sources reported that bus number 6/4513 was intercepted near Bir Al-Hasani, where the assailants poured flammable liquid on it and set it ablaze before fleeing the scene.
This incident is part of a series of attacks targeting the company in recent months, amid a notable absence of security forces in protecting vital investment facilities.
Sources also indicated that arrest warrants had previously been issued against individuals involved in earlier acts of violence, including the kidnapping of factory staff, but those orders have yet to be enforced.
This escalation poses a direct threat to the investment environment in Abyan and raises serious concerns about the stability of the security situation in the province.
