Houthis: $1.4 Billion in Damages to Hudaidah Ports from Recent Airstrikes

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

The Houthi armed group reported on Sunday that the ports of Hudaidah, Al-Salif, and Ras Issa sustained financial losses exceeding $1.4 billion due to joint U.S.-Israeli air and naval strikes carried out between July 2024 and May 2025.

The statement, issued by the Houthi-affiliated Red Sea Ports Corporation via the Houthi-run Saba News Agency, indicated that direct damages amounted to over $531 million, while indirect losses reached $856 million due to service disruptions and the halt of vital supply chains.

The statement noted that operational infrastructure—including marine docks, main cranes, power stations, and warehouses for humanitarian and medical goods—had been targeted. Despite the destruction, port operations continue to ensure the flow of aid to civilians.

This declaration follows a ceasefire agreement brokered by Oman in May between the Houthis and Washington, with the group stressing that Israel was excluded from the deal.

The airstrikes had come in response to Houthi attacks on US and Israeli targets, which the group described as acts of “support for Gaza.”
