One Killed in 20 Airstrikes on Sana’a

Yemen Monitor / Sanaa / Exclusive:

One person was killed on Wednesday evening in more than 20 airstrikes carried out by the United States on the Yemeni capital Sanaa, which is under the control of the Houthi group, according to the group’s media outlets and local sources.

Houthi media reported that the fatality occurred in a strike on the “Al-Nahda neighborhood” in Al-Thawra District of the Capital Secretariat.

Meanwhile, the Al-Hafa area in the Al-Sabeen District—home to Houthi military camps—was hit with 14 airstrikes. Additionally, three strikes targeted Bani Hashish District (east), one strike hit the Fardat Nihm area (east), and another struck Manakhah District (west).

According to the monitoring unit of Yemen Monitor, the number of airstrikes on Houthi-controlled areas has reached 583 since March 15 up to April 16. Of these, 146 airstrikes targeted Sanaa and the Capital Secretariat.

U.S. President Donald Trump has vowed that the Houthis “will be completely eradicated” amid daily airstrikes carried out by the U.S. military. Washington says the campaign aims to stop Houthi attacks on shipping lanes in the Red Sea. The Houthis claim their attacks are in solidarity with Palestinians, while the U.S. and its allies argue the motives are more internal.
