New US Airstrikes on Three Yemeni Governorates, Including Sana’a

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:

Media affiliated with the Houthi group announced that US warplanes launched a series of airstrikes on separate areas of Sana’a and Al-Hudaydah (west) and Marib (east of Yemen) governorates on Friday evening.

According to Houthi media, a series of raids targeted  Al-Abdiyah and Majzar districts in Marib Governorate.

US aircraft also targeted  Bura’a district in Al-Hudaydah Governorate with two airstrikes, according to Houthi media.

Later, the same source said that US aircraft launched three US airstrikes targeting Bani Hushish district in Sana’a.

It also targeted Wadi Al-ajbar in Sanhan district, south of Sana’a, with one airstrike, without further details.

Earlier on Friday, the US military denied Houthi claims that they targeted the aircraft carrier “Truman” and its warships in the northern Red Sea waters.

Yesterday, Thursday, the US military announced that a second aircraft carrier, sent by the US to the Middle East to protect what it called commercial flows, had arrived in the region, amid the intensified US campaign of airstrikes against the Houthis.

The US Central Command said in a statement yesterday, Thursday, on the X platform, that “the USS Carl Vinson aircraft carrier and its air wing, which includes F-35C Lightning II fighters, are operating alongside the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier in the Central Command’s area of responsibility.”

In contrast, a US Department of Defense official said that his country has bombed more than 100 targets in Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen since the start of its recent air campaign against the group, which he described as Iranian-backed.

These US airstrikes come after orders issued by US President Donald Trump to his country’s army to launch a “major offensive” against the Houthi group, before threatening to “eliminate them completely.”
