U.S. Military Denies Houthi Claims of Targeting Aircraft Carrier “Truman”

Yemen Monitor – Newsroom:
The U.S. military denied on Friday evening that the Houthis had targeted the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman in the northern waters of the Red Sea.
The U.S. military stated that the Truman “continues its military operations in international waters as usual.”
Earlier on Friday, the Houthi armed group claimed it had carried out a joint military operation targeting the U.S. aircraft carrier Truman and its accompanying warships in the northern Red Sea.
On Thursday, the U.S. military announced that a second aircraft carrier, deployed to the Middle East to protect what it called “commercial flows,” had arrived in the region amid intensified U.S. airstrikes against the Houthis.
In a statement posted Thursday on X (formerly Twitter), U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said:
“The aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson and its air wing, which includes F-35C Lightning II fighter jets, are operating alongside the USS Harry S. Truman in CENTCOM’s area of responsibility.”
Meanwhile, a U.S. Department of Defense official said that the U.S. has struck more than 100 targets in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen since launching its latest air campaign against the group, which the U.S. describes as being backed by Iran.
These U.S. strikes follow an order from President Donald Trump directing the military to launch a “major offensive” against the Houthis, after which he threatened to “completely eliminate” the group.
