Tribal Defenses Shoot Down a Houthi Drone over Matareh Al-Karama in Al-Jawf Governorate

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

Tribal sources in Al-Jawf Governorate reported today that tribal air defenses succeeded in shooting down a drone belonging to the Houthi group while it was flying over Matareh Al-Karama (Tribal Mobilization) in the Al-Rayyan area, east of the governorate.

The sources told Yemen Monitor that the drone had been carrying out a reconnaissance mission over the area before it was detected and engaged by anti-aircraft weapons operated by tribal fighters stationed at the outposts.

Activists on social media circulated video footage that they said documented the moment the Houthi drone was shot down. The footage showed the drone’s wreckage after it crashed, being transported aboard a tribal military vehicle.

These developments come amid continuing tensions in the frontline areas of Al-Jawf Governorate, with the Houthi group making increasing use of drones for reconnaissance missions and tribal activity in the region escalating over the past few days.
