Al-Mahrah: Fuel Tanker Carrying Diesel for Al-Ghaydah Power Plant Overturns

A tanker truck carrying diesel fuel designated for the electricity supply of Al-Ghaydah city overturned on Monday morning in one of the eastern tunnels on the road toward Nishtun in Al Mahrah Governorate, eastern Yemen, due to a mechanical failure in the tanker’s steering arm, according to local sources.

The sources said the accident occurred at approximately 7:30 a.m. on Monday, June 1, 2026, while the tanker was traveling on the road connecting Al-Ghaydah and Nishtun.

They added that the technical malfunction caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle, resulting in the tanker overturning. No injuries were reported.

According to the sources, the driver survived the accident unharmed and was seen walking along the road shortly after the incident.

No immediate information was available regarding the extent of the material damage or whether the accident affected traffic flow in the area.

The sources noted that the tanker was transporting a shipment of diesel fuel intended to supply Al-Ghaydah power station.
