UN: Funding for the 2026 Humanitarian Response Plan in Yemen is at critically low levels

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported that funding for the 2026 Humanitarian Response Plan in Yemen remains at a low level, amid expanding humanitarian needs and the ongoing crisis in the country.
In a recent report, the office stated that the funding received so far amounts to only about 13 percent of the total requirements for the humanitarian plan, amid escalating challenges facing the population across various governorates.
The report explained that the funding shortfall continues to restrict the ability of humanitarian organizations to respond to the growing needs, warning of direct repercussions that could affect essential services and life-saving relief programs.
It noted that the Humanitarian Response Plan in Yemen during 2025 also faced severe funding constraints, receiving only about 29 percent of the total required funding, which forced humanitarian actors to make difficult decisions regarding intervention priorities and the reduction of some humanitarian programs.
Yemen is facing one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world as a result of the ongoing war and economic deterioration, alongside the compounding effects of climate change and natural disasters, which doubles the scale of humanitarian needs for millions of people.
