The Security Committee in Shabwa Governorate issued an official statement condemning the armed assault carried out by infiltrating elements against members of the security and military units during their attempt to storm the Governorate Office.
The committee confirmed that the assault resulted in casualties and injuries, expressing its strong condemnation of this serious deviation from calls for peacefulness and a clear departure from order and the law.
The committee clarified its full respect for the legally guaranteed right to peaceful protest, but stressed that it will not allow any acts that threaten security or endanger public tranquility and the stability of the governorate.
The committee held fully responsible all those who violated the law and resorted to armed violence, affirming the initiation of legal investigation procedures to ensure accountability for those involved in incitement or the execution of the assault.
The Security Committee called on all citizens to exercise awareness and national responsibility, and not to be drawn into inciting calls aimed at destabilizing security and creating chaos in Shabwa.
The statement affirmed the committee’s commitment to its national duty in preserving security and stability, and its fulfillment of responsibilities towards the victims and injured as a result of the incident, along with its commitment to taking all deterrent measures against the attackers.
