Official statistics have revealed that 64 people were killed and 295 others injured in traffic accidents in areas under the control of the Yemeni government during last October.
The Yemeni Ministry of Interior stated that 151 of the injuries were described as serious, with material losses amounting to approximately 148 million riyals. It explained that it had recorded 349 traffic accidents across all liberated areas and provinces, distributed as 226 vehicle collision accidents, 75 pedestrian run-over accidents, 37 vehicle rollover accidents, and 11 other miscellaneous accidents.
According to the ministry, the main causes of the recorded accidents were drivers and road users violating traffic rules, incorrect and dangerous overtaking, negligence and distraction, driving against designated traffic directions, driving while tired and fatigued, and repeatedly stopping in the middle of the road.
