Yemen Monitor / Aden / Exclusive:
The Yemeni Ministry of Industry and Trade, in the interim capital Aden, announced on Sunday the cancellation and deletion of 8,781 trademarks and commercial agencies, some of which were due to incomplete legal procedures.
In a press release obtained by Yemen Monitor, the ministry stated: 508 trademarks were canceled for not completing legal procedures, in addition to 1,902 trademarks deleted for failing to renew, and 6,371 commercial agencies removed for not renewing with the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
The ministry confirmed that these measures aim at several objectives, including: economic reforms and market supervision, enhancing central revenues, and addressing merchants who refuse to renew their agencies in government-controlled areas.
This announcement came in parallel with the ministry intensifying its oversight role in markets across all governorates, coinciding with an improvement in the value of the national currency.
The ministry also stated it will continue canceling or deleting any inactive records, trademarks, or commercial agencies to ensure compliance with the law.
