Yemeni Prime Minister Salem Saleh bin Brik held a phone call with Lahj Governor Major General Ahmed Abdullah al-Turki, during which he was briefed on the conditions of citizens and the living, service, and security challenges facing the governorate, along with the consequences of the recent weather depression.
Bin Brik listened to a detailed report on the local authority’s efforts to confront floods that swept through several districts, including work to reopen roads, drain rainwater, and mitigate damage. He was also informed of measures being taken to monitor commodity and service prices following the recent improvement in the exchange rate of the national currency.
The Prime Minister stressed the need to intensify efforts to activate state institutions in the governorate in ways that positively affect citizens’ lives—particularly in electricity and water services. He emphasized the importance of market regulation, maintaining security and stability, and combating smuggling and illegal migration.
He also called for boosting revenues and depositing them into the government’s general account, affirming support for the local authority’s plans to implement urgent development projects that meet the needs of residents.
For his part, Lahj Governor praised government support and the steps that helped improve the national currency’s exchange rate and its impact on markets. He noted that coordination with relevant ministries is ongoing to enhance stability, improve services, and address climate challenges.
