Governor of Hadramout Forms Committee to Assess Flood Damage in Al-wadi and Al-sahra’a

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

Mabkhout Mubarak bin Madhi, the governor of Hadramout, has announced the formation of a specialized committee to survey and assess the damage caused by heavy rains and flash floods in the Hadramout Al-wadi and Al-sahra’a districts over the past few days.

According to the decision, the committee will be chaired by Hashim Mohammed Al-Saidi, the Assistant Undersecretary of the governorate for the Al-wadi and Al-sahra’a districts. The committee members will include directors-general from various executive offices and relevant authorities, as well as representatives from civil society organizations and volunteer youth forums.

The committee’s mandate is to monitor and evaluate the damage to public and private property and infrastructure. It is authorized to seek assistance from anyone it deems necessary to carry out its tasks and must submit its final report to the governor within two weeks of the decision’s issuance.

Most of Yemen’s governorates are currently experiencing heavy to very heavy rainfall, which has led to blocked roads and damage to homes in many cities, including some listed as World Heritage sites, which have suffered partial or total collapses.
