Al-Mahra Local Authority Clarifies Handling of Al-Zaidi Case, Affirms Continued Pursuit of Those Involved

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:

The local authority in Al-Mahra governorate has revealed details regarding its handling of the case involving Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Zaidi, affirming that it took action in accordance with Yemeni laws and regulations.

They clarified that all measures taken against Al-Zaidi were within a legal framework, free from other considerations, and with due regard for systemic controls, human rights, and humanitarian standards.

The authority indicated that Al-Zaidi’s release was decided after completing the necessary legal procedures and providing the required legitimate and legal guarantees. The state reserves its right to pursue subsequent judicial proceedings.

The local authority in Al-Mahra emphasized that the right to retribution for the blood and martyrs who fell in this case will not expire with time. The relevant authorities will continue to pursue the perpetrators and those involved in the events that led to the martyrdom of Yemeni armed forces officers, bringing them to justice.

They explained that the deadline granted to armed groups who came from outside the governorate ended on June 28, 2025, and these groups have complied by leaving the governorate. Any armed presence outside official channels after this deadline will be considered a threat to the governorate’s security.

The authority expressed its deep appreciation to the sheikhs of Al-Mahra and Yemen, as well as the mediators, who contributed to de-escalating the situation, commending their sense of responsibility in preserving peace and security in the governorate.

In concluding its statement, the authority stressed its commitment to the rule of law, asserting that Al-Mahra governorate will remain a safe land governed by state institutions, rejecting any attempts to impose a reality by force of arms or threats.
