Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:

An elderly woman was killed and a young girl seriously injured today, Tuesday, as a result of artillery shelling that targeted villages in Al-Selw district, southeast of Taiz Governorate, southwestern Yemen.

Local sources told “September Net,” a website affiliated with the Yemeni Ministry of Defense, that Jalilah Qaid Abdullah Ghalib (60 years old) was killed in Al-Aqyus village. The shelling was carried out by the Houthi group from their positions in the neighboring Khadeer district.

The sources added that the shelling also resulted in serious injuries to Rahaf Raed Abdulhakim (13 years old). She was transported to a hospital in Taiz city for treatment.

Various areas in Taiz Governorate are periodically subjected to shelling from Houthi positions, leading to civilian casualties, including women and children, amidst the ongoing conflict and the stalled political settlement process.
