Two Children Injured by Houthi Sniper Fire in Taiz, Southwestern Yemen

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

Two children were injured on Saturday evening by sniper fire from an armed Houthi group member in Al-Damiena neighborhood, north of the city of Taiz (southwestern Yemen).

Maher Al-Absi, Director of the Office for Siege Affairs in Taiz, confirmed that the two children, Suleiman Fahd Haza’a (14 years old) and Mohammed Mansour Ali Abdulrahman (12 years old), were shot from the Al-Madragat hill overlooking the neighborhood while they were sitting on a water truck waiting to fill it from a well. They sustained injuries of varying severity and were subsequently transferred to a city hospital for treatment.

Houthi gunmen, positioned in the hills surrounding the city from the east, north, and west, continue to repeatedly target residential neighborhoods and snipe at unarmed civilians, particularly children and women.

The most recent of these crimes was the injury of three girls earlier this month, when Houthi militias fired a shell at their homes in Al-Dhabab neighborhood west of the city, according to the governorate’s media center.
