The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the destruction of four drones and three underground storage sites in areas controlled by the Houthis in Yemen, also confirming that the group had launched four ballistic anti-ship missiles towards the Red Sea.

“On March 22 (Friday), between approximately 4:22 a.m. and 11:10 p.m. (Sana’a time), US Central Command (CENTCOM) forces successfully engaged and destroyed four unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen in self-defense,” CENTCOM said in a statement on X.

“During this timeframe, the Houthis launched four ballistic anti-ship missiles from Houthi-run areas of Yemen toward the Red Sea. There were no reported injuries or damage to US, coalition, or commercial vessels,” it added.

CENTCOM said its forces also conducted “defensive strikes against three Houthi underground storage facilities in Yemen.”

“These strikes targeted capabilities used by the Houthis to threaten and attack maritime vessels and commercial shipping in the region,” it said.

“The Houthis’ unlawful attacks have killed three US Navy personnel, sunk a commercial vessel legally transiting the Red Sea, disrupted humanitarian assistance to Yemen, harmed regional economies, and caused environmental damage,” it added.
