A ballistic missile launched by the Houthis fell on Marib

Yemen Monitor / Marib / Exclusive

A missile launched by the Houthis fell on the city of Marib “east of the capital Sanaa” on Friday evening.

Yemen Monitor correspondent stated that “the missile fell in an empty area near the displaced persons’ camps on the outskirts of the city of Marib at the time of Iftar (breaking the fast)”.

Social media users shared a “picture of parts of the ballistic missile that fell after exploding in the sky of the area.”

It is worth mentioning that the number of displaced persons in Marib is around 2 million, and their camps are located far from the blockade and minefields.

The civil war in Yemen broke out in late 2014 when the Houthi group seized large areas of the northern provinces and took control of the capital Sanaa.

Fighting between the Yemeni government forces and the Houthis has stopped for over a year under a fragile ceasefire mediated by the United Nations, which is trying to extend it to pave the way for a comprehensive peace agreement.

The war has resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands of Yemenis, destroyed infrastructure, and pushed the country to the brink of famine.
